When the term “spring break” pops into most people’s heads, they think about college and wild parties on beaches. But if your college days are long behind you, that doesn’t mean that great spring breaks have to be a thing of the past, as well.
Now that most colleges have gotten their spring breaks out of the way, you can take advantage of this lull period in springtime travel to take your family or significant other to one of these great spring break destinations:
The Bahamas
The Bahamas have everything that you could possibly want in a spring vacation. Beaches, crystal clear waters, beautiful resorts, and inexpensive cocktails. If you’re traveling with your spouse, the Bahamas has a number of romantic getaways that are perfect for a few days or even a few weeks in paradise. If you’re traveling with kids, you can also find a number of great resorts with kid-friendly amenities such as relaxed restaurants and family-friendly pools.
Thailand
Thailand is consistently moving up on the list of spring break hotspots. More and more people are realizing that Thailand has a lot more to offer than party beaches — though it has its fair share of those, too. Thailand is also a bustling country with fascinating cities, great food, and countless outdoor adventures. You’ll find English language signs virtually everywhere you go and will have opportunities to ride elephants at wildlife sanctuaries, rock climb along the coast, and enjoy daily Thai massages. What could be better than that?
Canada
You don’t have to go far to have a great time this spring break. One great way to avoid the chaos of beach cities is to forgo them altogether and instead head up north for a ski trip, camping, or a big city adventure. Head to Vancouver to see the wonders of Stanley Park, or take a trip to Montréal to enjoy North America’s version of Paris. Check out our Travel Spotlight on Canada blog for even more suggestions on what to see and do while visiting this majestic country.
Australia
It may be fall right now in Australia, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a wonderful spring break there. Australia is an adventure-lover’s paradise with everything from cycling to sailing, and it also has great cities filled with museums and culture. Lay out on Bondi beach, or dress up for a night at the Sydney Opera House.
