In all of our years of travel experience, we’ve never heard of anyone visiting Germany and not loving it. Travel to Germany is the perfect choice for honeymooners, history buffs, backpackers, and everyone in between. Bustling cities, cathedrals, castles, battlegrounds, and beautiful scenery can all be found here.
Here just a few of the highlights that can be enjoyed in Deutschland:
- Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest is one of the most well-known annual festivals around the world. It’s right up there with Carnival in Rio and the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona. Held every year in Munich, the festival plays host to about six million people and serves up over seven million liters of beer, not to mention all of the wonderful German food to go with it. Oktoberfest is a sixteen to eighteen day festival that begins, oddly enough, in September each year and runs through the first weekend of October. It simply can’t be missed.
- Berlin
Few cities in the world can boast the intense, tumultuous history of Berlin. From the World Wars through the Cold War, Berlin is overflowing with history, and it has numerous monuments and museums to pay tribute to all of that experience. Come see pieces of the Berlin wall beautifully painted on the west side and barren on the east side. This is also a great city to visit on a budget. It has amazing food, culture, and nightlife at low prices, making it a favorite destination for backpackers from around the world.
- The Romantic Road
A favorite tourist trip, the Romantic Road is a scenic drive through Germany that offers picturesque scenery, quaint towns, kind hosts, and fascinating history. This drive is a must for couples traveling through Germany. One of its most treasured sites is Rothenburg ob der Tauber, the most well-preserved medieval town in all of Germany.
If you are a United States passport holder, you don’t need any sort of Germany travel visa to see the country for 90 days or less. Germany is a Schengen country, which means that US citizens can travel here freely with just a US passport, making it a great stop on a multi-country trip through Western Europe.
If you have questions about Germany visas for people who are not US passport holders, contact the Swift team today. We are available to answer any of your international travel questions and can help you secure both expedited visas and passports with minimal hassles.
