If you were previously issued a 10-year visa to China prior to 2020, the consulate now requires the completion of a China Compensation Form as part of your application process. The physical passport holding the valid or expired 10-year visa must be provided at the time of service. This form provides you with two options:
- Three-Year Extension (No Consulate Fee):
- If you still have the passport containing your previous 10-year visa and are applying for the same visa category (e.g., Tourist, Business, family visit, etc.), you may extend your visa for three years without paying a consular fee. If the visa has been cancelled or if you have been issued a multiple-entry visa for China since, you are not eligible for this option.
- Apply for a New 10-Year Visa (Consular Fee Required):
- You can apply for a new 10-year visa at the standard consular fee.
Please note that if you opt-in for the three-year extension, the consulates still require that you must follow the full visa application process. If you opt-in for the three-year extension, the consulate does not charge the fee for the visa; however, Swift’s service fees will still apply.
Thanks for your help with this!
