Brazilian Embassy Information

Brazil is the largest country in both Latin America and South America, spanning roughly 3.2 million square miles. Its population is about 208 million people, making it the world’s sixth most populous country. The capital of Brazil is Brasília, but the most populous city is São Paulo. It is a very multiculturally and ethnically diverse country as a center of global mass immigration. Brazil consists of a union of 26 states, a Federal District, and 5,570 municipalities. It has a 4,655-mile coastline along the Atlantic Ocean and is bordered by every other country in South America, barring Ecuador and Chile. The official language is Portuguese.
